Slowly Cala revealed her true self again. She was no longer the weak, sick dog but a healthy, confident, and happy soul. Lya Battle happily noticed Cala gaining more trust day by day and even starting to seek attention.

But even after all the progress, Cala was not completely safe. In June, during her time at the shelter, a terrible incident occurred: unknown individuals sneaked into the shelter and left out poisoned sausages. Sixteen dogs died in total, but Cala was lucky; she ate a sausage but survived, apparently because of her size and the amount she ate.
Cala was left emotionally shaken after the incident and struggled for some time with neurological issues; but as before, she showed her strength and found her way back to life.

After all the years of pain, hunger, and abuse, Cala had not given up at the end of her rescue. Her story is one of unwavering strength and unimaginable perseverance.

Today Cala lives in a loving foster family that gives her all the affection she so desperately deserves. Her recovery has inspired not only her life but also the lives of many people—there is always hope!
