An Incredible Survival: The Story of Dymka
There are stories about cats that give us an enlightening glimpse into the strength and resilience of these little creatures. These tales serve as beacons of hope, showing us that even in the toughest of times, perseverance can lead to extraordinary outcomes.

One such remarkable story is that of Dymka, a lovely stray cat who has faced severe misfortunes. After suffering a serious frostbite injury, Dymka lost all four of her legs – a disaster that could have ended her life. However, thanks to innovative veterinary care and her indomitable spirit, Dymka overcame the odds and learned to walk again with the help of prosthetic titanium disks.
A few years ago, Dymka was all alone outside during a brutal winter, struggling for survival.
A kind person discovered her curled up by the roadside, trying to keep her paws as warm as possible. As he approached, he was horrified to find that Dymka’s paws, as well as her ears and tail, were severely affected by frostbite.
He immediately took Dymka in and rushed her to the nearest veterinary clinic for help.
Frostbite in cats occurs when their skin is exposed to extremely low temperatures for prolonged periods. In cold conditions, blood vessels in the skin constrict to preserve the body’s core heat. While this protective measure can help, it poses severe risks to the most exposed skin cells, which can freeze and die. Frostbite is classified into various degrees of severity, and unfortunately, Dymka suffered a fourth-degree frostbite, which is severe and causes extensive tissue damage.

As all four of Dymka’s legs were irreparably damaged by frostbite, amputating her legs, part of her tail, and her ears was the only way to save her life. The veterinary team was determined to give this resilient cat a chance at a brighter future and collaborated with scientists specializing in 3D printing to create custom animal prosthetics for Dymka.
